Matthew Payne

Matthew Payne comes to The Table at Madeley with songs shaped by the Hill Country around Dripping Springs and a storyteller’s eye sharpened during nearly two decades teaching English and creative writing in Austin public schools.

His 2025 EP, Coyote Howlin Blues, introduced listeners to songs including “Spider House Blues,” which was featured by Sun Radio, followed by the ten-song debut album Better Times in April 2026. Selected as a 2026 Kerrville Grassy Hill New Folk finalist, Payne writes about family, place, loss, change, and the search for a way forward with an honest, stripped-down approach.
