A local legend in radio, country music, and the arts, Mary McCoy has been a cornerstone of the Conroe community and will be honored with a day filled with special events recognizing her incredible legacy.
The festivities will kick off at 11:00 AM at Founders Plaza in Downtown Conroe, presented by the Greater Conroe Arts Alliance. The event will feature the unveiling of a bronze bust commemorating Mary McCoy’s remarkable contributions to the world of radio and country music. This statue will stand as a tribute to her lasting influence, not only in the community of Conroe but throughout the radio and music industry.
Following the morning ceremony, a Mary McCoy birthday celebration will be held at 6:00 PM at The Table at Madeley, located at 316 Madeley St. in Conroe. The event will include live music, stories, songs, and cherished memories shared by Mary herself, along with her family and friends. Attendees are invited to enjoy this special evening filled with heartfelt tributes, as well as a chance to celebrate the historic nature of Conroe and one of its most special talents.
Mary McCoy’s career has spanned decades, from her early days at KMCO, Conroe’s first radio station, to becoming a world record holder for the longest career as a female radio presenter. She has been recognized with numerous awards, including her induction into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, the Guinness World Record for the longest female radio career, and her recent induction into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2024. McCoy’s contributions to country music, radio, and the Conroe community are profound and continue to inspire generations.
